International Credit Union Day
- October 9, 2025
- Lindsey Mueller, Director of Advocacy & Financial Education
On Thursday, October 16, CoVantage Credit Union will join credit unions worldwide in celebrating International Credit Union Day® (ICU Day). This annual event highlights the significant role that financial cooperatives play in enhancing the communities they serve and improving the lives of their members. To mark this special occasion, CoVantage will offer refreshments at all branch locations. Both members and non-members are invited to visit any CoVantage branch and join in the celebration.
Credit unions are unique financial institutions because they are not-for-profit, member-owned cooperatives. By pooling their members’ assets, credit unions provide low-cost loans and other financial services that prioritize the best interests of their members. Founded on the principle of “people helping people,” credit unions have embodied this philosophy for over a century, offering affordable financial products and striving to meet the needs of underserved communities.
Lindsey Mueller, Director of Advocacy and Financial Education at CoVantage, shared her enthusiasm for the celebration, saying, "At CoVantage, we don’t just celebrate International Credit Union Day, we live it. Every cookie shared, every smile exchanged, and every story told is a reminder that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves. The credit union movement is built on heart, hope, and helping hands, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of a team that brings those values to life every single day."
The trust and loyalty of CoVantage Credit Union members have played a vital role in the organization’s continued success and recognition. According to Callahan & Associates, a respected industry research firm, CoVantage has ranked in the top 1% nationally for member value for 20 consecutive years. This distinction is based on the firm’s Return of the Member (ROM) metric, which measures how effectively credit unions deliver value to their members. A consistently high ROM score reflects CoVantage’s strong commitment to its mission of putting members first and delivering exceptional financial value.
Charlie Zanayed, President/CEO of CoVantage Credit Union, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We’re humbled and honored to serve you, our member-owners, and appreciate your loyalty and ongoing support. CoVantage continues to live its mission of “welcoming all regardless of wealth, providing outstanding value and exceptional service, working with members experiencing financial challenge, and remain financially strong.”
