- CoVantage Credit Union
If you use a mobile phone, you probably rely on it daily to stay connected with friends, family, and with CoVantage. But not every message you receive is trustworthy. Scammers are increasingly using text messages to try and trick people into sharing personal or financial information.
At CoVantage, your security is our priority. Here’s how to recognize and report fraudulent texts so you can protect yourself and your accounts.
🚨 What Are Spam Texts?
Spam texts are unwanted messages that often appear to come from legitimate sources. Scammers use them to lure you into clicking harmful links or sharing sensitive details like your:
- Account number
- Social Security number
- Login credentials
- Promise fake prizes, gift cards, or coupons
- Offer low-interest credit cards or debt relief
- Claim there’s a problem with your account or payment
- Send fake invoices or delivery notifications
Some messages even mimic CoVantage alerts. If you receive a message that seems suspicious—especially one asking for personal information or urging you to click a link—pause before you act.
🔐 How CoVantage Communicates with You
CoVantage uses secure text messaging to help protect your account and keep you informed. We send alerts and one-time passcodes for account verification, which are only triggered by specific actions you take—like updating your profile or scheduling a transfer. Additionally, if we suspect a fraudulent debit or credit card transaction, we’ll send a text message to verify the activity and help prevent unauthorized use.
We will never ask you to share sensitive information via text. If you’re unsure whether a message is legitimate, contact us directly using a verified phone number or secure messaging through MyCoVantage digital and mobile banking.
✅ What You Can Do
If you receive a suspicious text:
- Don’t click any links or reply.
- Block the sender using your phone’s settings or carrier tools.
- Report the message by forwarding it to 7726 (SPAM).
- Let us know if the message claims to be from CoVantage—we want to investigate and protect our members.
